Enough with the soap already!

DEAR DR. GOTT: Ye gads! We are tired of "soap under the sheets" as a cure for anything. Some of us read your column for medical information, not stories of soap.
I have diabetes and high blood pressure and cholesterol. If I carry a bar of soap during the day and put a bar under the sheets at night, can I stop all these high-priced pills? I could probably wear a soap necklace, although it may be somewhat cumbersome. Please advise.
DEAR READER: Nothing you or I do will have the slightest impact on high drug prices, but carrying a bar of soap may make you have cleaner thoughts.
Now that hundreds of readers have been helped by the soap therapy, I will gladly back off and pay attention to other alternative treatments. I appreciate your comments.
For your cholesterol, you may wish to try omega-3 capsules or niacin as a cheaper alternative to your high-priced prescription medications. You should also be on a low-fat diet to help reduce your cholesterol level.
Both diabetes and high blood pressure can be reduced or even eliminated with proper diet, exercise and weight loss if you are overweight. This means a low- or no-salt, no-sugar diet plan.

DEAR DR. GOTT: My husband is 53 years old. For about the last year, from time to time, he has had blood in his semen. It doesn't happen on a regular basis. He is not a doctor person, but he went to see a urologist, who blamed it on getting older, the blood vessels weakening and breaking when he becomes aroused. Research I've done says it will happen a few times but will go away within weeks. However, it has been a year. His PSA is slightly elevated, and a digital prostate exam was normal.
I have tried to convince him to go back or go see another doctor, but he doesn't want to. However, he complains about it every time it happens. I don't know what else to do, short of knocking him out and dragging him. Is this normal or something to worry about?
DEAR READER: I agree that a second opinion is in order. Although seminal blood is often a consequence of aging, it could reflect an infection or a prostate problem. Drag him to the specialist.
To give you related information, I am sending you a copy of my Health Report "The Prostate Gland."
