DEAR DR. GOTT: Would you please place in your column a list of your home remedies, such as cherries for gout, use of soap for leg cramps, the product to remove facial hair, etc.? I know there are more. I would like to be able to have them all in one place, laminate the paper and keep it in a safe place.
DEAR READER: I am glad to supply the information you requested.
SOAP FOR NOCTURNAL LEG CRAMPS: Simply place a bar of soap, unwrapped, under the bottom sheet of your bed near your legs. This remedy takes effect immediately.
CASTOR OIL FOR ARTHRITIS: Rub a small amount of castor oil into the affected joint or joints, morning and night. May take effect immediately, or full results may not be seen for up to four days.
GRAPE JUICE AND CERTO FOR ARTHRITIS: Place 1 to 2 tablespoons of liquid Certo (or any brand pectin) in 8 ounces of purple grape juice. Drink up to three times a day. May take up to four days for full results.
VICKS VAPORUB: For nail fungus, simply clip the nail as far back as possible without causing pain, and rub the Vicks onto the nail and surrounding skin twice a day. This may take months before results are visible. For fungal infections of the skin (athlete's foot, jock itch, etc.) or psoriasis, simply rub a small amount of Vicks onto the affected area twice a day. May take up to a week to clear.
CHERRIES FOR GOUT: Eat six to 10 cherries daily as a preventive or 10 to 15 at the start of and during of the gout attack. Reduces the length and pain of the attack.
COLON COCKTAIL FOR CONSTIPATION: Equal portions of apple sauce, bran and prune juice. Take 1 to 2 tablespoons each morning. May take up to 10 days to be fully effective.
BREWER'S YEAST FOR MOSQUITOES: Take one 7.5-milligram tablet each day to repel mosquitoes. Usually works immediately.
FACIAL-HAIR REMOVER: The product is called Hair Block, and is manufactured by a company called Cosmetic Lab Sales. Order online at www.cosmeticlabsales.com, or call 866-363-3332 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. It's $7.98 per container, plus shipping and handling and sales tax if you live in Connecticut.
EAR PAIN: Sweet oil and garlic oil work wonders for ear pain caused by infection. Simply warm and place a few drops of either into the ear. Results should be immediate.

DEAR DR. GOTT: Recently, I discovered a great way to treat my constipation.
I had a brainstorm and substituted a glass of warm apple juice followed by a glass of warm water for the popular warm prune juice and warm water method. It works much better than prune juice, tastes better, costs less and doesn't cause the tummy cramps that prune juice does. If you endorse this and spread the word in your column, I believe many other senior citizens will be helped with an annoying problem of old age.
DEAR READER: Bowel problems can be a real nuisance for senior citizens, so I am publishing your letter to inform my readers of warm apple juice as a possible cure for constipation. Readers, if you try this method, please let me know how it works.
To give you related information, I am sending you a copy of my Health Report "Constipation and Diarrhea."
