Note: The following is part of a series of columns looking at the founding and general history of southeast Georgia and Bulloch County. Another short-lived community that spring up in Bulloch County was Arlen, located between Rufus and Proctor, that had a population of 91 in 1900. It was located about 2-and-a-half miles north of Stilson, on what used to be the Savannah & Statesboro Railroad line.
