Celebrating 60 years

Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Denmark of Nevils celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 16, 2006. The reception was held at the George Roebuck Community Center in Brooklet and hosted by the couple’s sons, Steve (Barbara), David, Kenny (Carol) of Savannah, Danny (Marla) of Faulkville and Joey (Jeannie) of Ellabell. The couple was married Sept. 16, 1946, at the courthouse in Pembroke with Justice of the Peace Roscoff Deal officiating. Mr. Denmark is a native of Nevils and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from American Cyanamid as a production operator with 28 years of service. Mrs. Denmark is the former Frances Helmuth of Statesboro and had worked at Nicholson’s Pharmacy in Savannah for 23 years. They are of the Baptist faith. The Denmarks have 10 grandchildren, Alicia and Dax Campbell, Jennifer, Michelle, Timothy, Dewayne, Jaymes, Jad, Josey and Evan Denmark; and five great-grandchildren, Landon (deceased) and Wyatt Denmark, Cameron, Christian and Mylea Campbell.
