Anviks celebrate 70th anniversary

Art and Maxine Anvik of Statesboro are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary on July 6, 2008. They were married on July 6, 1938, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney, Mont. They spent the first half of their married life in Montana, moving to Arizona in 1976, and then moving to Georgia in 2004. Art and Maxine farmed in Eastern Montana, and later Art worked in construction and Maxine worked for the railroad, the U.S. government, the Post Office and the Dawson County Board of Education until they purchased the Uptown Motel, which they operated until their retirement in 1973. The Anviks are members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Statesboro. They have four children, Ardean A. Anvik of Elma, Wash., Nelda Bishop of Statesboro, Rolly and Barb Anvik of Glendive, Mont., and Kevin and Dawn Anvik of Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
