Statesboro defensive back Molloy VanGorder has been invited to as a preferred walk-on to play football at the University of Georgia in the fall.
“I’m just thankful for this opportunity,” said the 5-foot-9, 160-pound senior. “It’s a dream come true.”
After meeting with UGA’s coach Jon Fabris, VanGorder made his decision and will head to camp this summer to begin training with the team.
“It’s going to take hard work, that’s it,” said VanGorder. “My role won’t be as vital as a scholarship athlete. I just have to work hard on the scout team and on special teams and do everything I can to make the team better.”
VanGorder also said he was looking forward to joining teammates Justin Houston and John Knox in fall, as well as junior DeAngelo Tyson who has signed to play with UGA in 2008.
A preferred walk-on is an athlete guaranteed a spot on the team, but one that has not been offered a scholarship.
