Prep roundup: Screven Co. boys win track and field meet

    Screven County High School's boys track and field team scored 140 points to win a meet Thursday. The Gamecocks beat South Effingham (112), Effingham County (109), Savannah Christian (61) and Swainsboro (53).
    First-place finishers for Screven were Devaughn Bryant, 800-meter run, 2:09, 1600-meter run, 4:59; Jaron Cusack, 110-meter hurdles, 15.75; and Quan Smith, 400-meter run, 53.08.
    In girls action, Effingham County won with 137 points. South Effingham (114) was second, Swainsboro (104) was third, Screven County (85) was fourth and Savannah Christian (15) was fifth.
    First-place finishers for Screven were Vaneisha Lawton, 100-meter hurdles, 17.97; Miyah Golden, 300-meter hurdles, 51.36; and Kaitlyn Skinner, discus, 100 feet, 1/2 inches.

Lady Gators beat JMA at soccer
    MILLEDGEVILLE — Bulloch Academy's girls soccer team defeated John Milledge Academy, 5-0, on Thursday.
    Haley Burke scored three goals and had two assists to lead the Lady Gators (5-4 overall, 2-2 in GISA Region 4-AAA).
    Bulloch Academy's Ashley Burke and Cate Williams each scored goals, and Williams and Maddie Marsh had one assist apiece.
    Goalkeeper Page Spence made 10 saves for the Lady Gators, who will play host to Trinity at 5 p.m. today.
