Statesboro goalkeeper Drew Funk, center, is joined by parents Mike and Lisa as he signs a letter of intent to play soccer for the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Over the last few years, Funk has established himself as a key player and team leader for the Blue Devils. With Funk standing tall as Statesboro's last line of defense, the Devils have allowed just seven goals this season and have compiled a 9-2 record.
Statesboro has also locked up a sub-region championship and will be a top seed in the Region 3-AAAA tournament.
"Playing (at SCAD) is an exciting opportunity," Funk said. "It allows me to keep playing soccer and I'll get to do it close to home. It's also great for me academically. Acting and drama have been a big part of my life and I know that I'll have a great opportunity to pursue that at SCAD."
