Kenny named new football coach at SEB

    John B. Kenny has been hired by the Bulloch County School System to teach physical education at Southeast Bulloch High School.  He has also been selected by the Principal, Joni Walker-Seier, as the new head football coach.  
    Kenny, a four-year starter in football at Valdosta State University, began his coaching career at VSU where he was a varsity assistant coach and the junior varsity head coach.
    He has 15 years of coaching experience and has been successful at every place in his career.  He has had a myriad of teaching, coaching, and leadership experience: Department Chair of Physical  Education/Health; Weight Room Coordinator; Athletic Director; Head Football Coach; Offensive Coordinator; Offensive Line Coach; Defensive Line Coach; Linebackers Coach; Quarterback Coach; Weightlifting Coach; and, in addition, has served as Head Boys Track Coach and Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach.          He has coached a team that competed in state playoffs four years consecutively and has had the honor of taking a team to the Georgia Dome in the state semifinals.
    He recently completed three years as the athletic director and head football coach at West Laurens High School in Dublin  where he rebuilt a previously unsuccessful program into a success story in three years as they progressed to the first round of state playoffs.
    He is presently the offensive coordinator at Spalding High School in Griffin and is excited about coming back to south Georgia.
    Kenny is originally from Effingham County. He is a graduate of Effingham County High School where he was team captain, named All-Coastal Empire, All-Region, and a State Championship runner-up.
    Kenny is a member of Valdosta State Alumni Letterman’s Club, was the GACA Assistant Coach of the Year and was nominated for Who’s Who in Teaching.
    Kenny and his wife, Nicole, also a teacher, have two sons, Matthew and Michael.
