The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has named a pair of Eagles to its 2012 All-South Region Team.
Senior Marie Fogle and sophomore Sarah Purvis were named to the All-South Region Second Team.
Fogle finished her senior season as GSU's career slugging percentage record holder. She ranks third for career batting average at .345 over her four seasons. In 2012, Fogle hit a career-best .397 with nine home runs. Her 27 homers are fourth on GSU's career list.
Purvis' sophomore season earned her SoCon Pitcher of the Year. She set a school record with a 23-12 overall record and 253 strikeouts. Purvis had six shutouts and allowed 49 earned runs over 220 1/3 innings for a 1.56 earned-run average. She held batters to a .168 average.
This is the second time in three seasons that GSU has garnered a pair of all-region honorees. In 2010, Brianna Streetmon and Nina Iduate each earned all-region honors. Purvis and Fogle are the seventh and eighth Eagles, respectively, to earn NFCA All-Region honors.
