Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball will look to stay hot after the program’s biggest come-from-behind victory since 2009-10 season as the Eagles visit UAB on January 2nd. The game against the Blazers starts at 8 p.m. (ET) with airtime set for 7:30 p.m. on the Georgia Southern Radio Network.

On Saturday night, the Eagles spotted Georgia State a 17-0 advantage in the first six minutes of the game, but came back to take the 68-64 victory in overtime. Eric Ferguson scored 24 points, two short of a career-high as the junior dropped GSU’s final six points of regulation to force the extra frame. Ferguson and C.J. Reed added three-point baskets in overtime to push the Eagles past Georgia State for the second-straight time at home.

Ferguson is averaging 14.9 points per game to lead the Eagles and ranks 36th in career scoring at Georgia Southern and needs less than 100 points to move into the top-30 in all-time scoring. He needs 15 more rebounds to become the 11th member of the 500 rebound club and the 10th player to score 1,000 points and post 500 rebounds in a career.

Reed and Tre Bussey enter the first game of 2013 level with 10.6 points per game. Bussey scored 17 points against the Panthers with five rebounds and has started every game this season. Reed is shooting .439 from beyond the arc this season and was named Mid-Major Player of the Week on December 17th by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

Senior Cameron Baskerville has paced the Eagles from the free throw line this year with .941 mark from the stripe. He is 16-for-17 from the line with a perfect 7-for-7 record in the final five minutes of the game. Overall the Eagles are shooting .651 from the charity stripe, but have upped that number in the final five minutes of games to .705.

UAB is coming off a 83-63 win over Northeastern on Saturday night in Birmingham to improve to 7-6 on the season. Four Blazers scored in double figures against the Huskies, led by 17 points from both Terrence Jones and Preston Purifoy. Jordan Swing leads the team with 15.4 points per game overall while the team is averaging 78.0 points per game while conceding 73.9 points per night.

The Eagles close the 2012-13 non-conference slate on Saturday night as North Carolina A&T comes to Hanner Fieldhouse. The game against the Aggies starts at 7 p.m.
