After a career week which included his first save and 18 total strikeouts, Chris Beck was named the Louisville Slugger's National Pitcher of the Week by Collegiate Baseball on Monday, April 2nd. Georgia Southern's ace was named a preseason All-American by the same organization.
Beck pitched the 9th inning in Tuesday's win over #21 Georgia Tech and notched his first career save with a pair of strikeouts in the 5-3 victory. The junior picked up where he left off in Atlanta and struck out a career-best 16 batters, including 10 of the first 14 batters he faced on Friday night, to up his total for the week to 18. He earned the win in the 4-2 victory over the College of Charleston after allowing just two runs in six innings.
The Georgia Southern Baseball team wraps up a four-game homestand on Wednesday against Bethune-Cookman before heading off to Davidson for a three-games series which starts on Thursday. The Eagles will welcome in former pitching coach Jason Beverlin, who is in his first season at the helm with the Wildcats, with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
