Bulloch Academy's Corey Owens, 51, knocks the ball loose from David Emanuel Academy quarterback Brandon Blount, center, for a fumble during the first quarter of Friday's season opener in Stillmore.
After two fumbles and an interception on its first three possessions, all Bulloch Academy needed was some lightning to catch fire.
After an hour and five minute weather delay at the start of the second quarter, BA (1-0) came out of the break and rolled to a 40-0 win over David Emanuel Academy in Stillmore.
The Gators amassed 397 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers in the win.
Quarterback Jordan Walker led BA’s attack, rushing for 192 yards and scoring three times,  the highlight a 71-yard scamper at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Ethan Lovett also scored twice on offense and recovered two fumbles on defense. The Gators held DEA to just 17 total yards, led by Drew Cheshire, Ben Newton and Michael Kimbrell.
The Gators took a 20-0 lead into halftime then pounced on the Eagles for 20 more in the third to force a running clock on a wet and sloppy night.
Bulloch will open their home season on Friday, Sept. 7 against Pinewood Christian Academy. David Emanuel will face Citizens Christian next week.
