STATESBORO, Ga. -- William R. “Billy” Shranko, a devoted husband, brother, son and friend to all, died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20th, while he and his wife, Melanie, were on an anniversary trip to Greensboro, Ga., for the weekend.
    Billy is survived by his wife, Melanie; mother, Karen J. Bircher; stepfather, John R. Bircher; his uncle, Bill Shranko; brothers, Kenneth (Catharine) and Dondi; niece, Andrea; and nephews, Matthew and Spencer.
    He is predeceased by his father, Jerry M. Shranko.
    Billy was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He grew up in Ohio and graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1983. Billy was a loyal and devoted fan of his beloved Cleveland Browns.
    Billy most recently worked as head machinist for RC Machine & Tool located in Statesboro, Ga.
    On October 14, 2017, he married Melanie Hayes, a Statesboro, Ga., resident and medical office administrator at Statesboro Family Practice.
    Billy was a devoted husband to his wife, Melanie. When he met her in 2015, Billy knew immediately she was the love of his life.
    In his younger years, Billy loved hiking, camping and mostly fishing. Then, the game of golf got into his blood and it quickly became his passion. He immensely enjoyed beach weekends with Melanie and frequently squeezed in a round of golf whenever he had the chance. He was also a problem-solver and fixer who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house.
    He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who were touched by him.
    Visitation will be at the Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home located in Statesboro, Ga., at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27th, followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m.
