Mr. Thomas Harold Brannen
STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Thomas Harold Brannen, age 89, died Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro.
    The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1949 graduate of Statesboro High School.
    Following his graduation, Harold joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge form the Army, Harold returned to Bulloch County.
    He began farming and tree farming in 1974.
    Harold was a member and past president of the Statesboro Golden “K” Kiwanis Club.
    He was a member of Merrywood Baptist Church in Statesboro.
    Harold was preceded in death by his parents, James Roberson Brannen and Rosalie McElveen Brannen; a son, Richard Brannen; a grandson, Mark Brannen; two sisters, Rosetta B. Parrish and Gladys Sullivan; and a brother, J.R. “Bobby” Brannen Jr.
    Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Iris Hendrix Brannen of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Harold Brannen Jr. and Debbie Brannen of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Neal Burnsed of Statesboro; six grandchildren, Stephanie Brannen of Nebraska, Julie Moore of Statesboro, Richard Brannen of Statesboro, Clint Brannen of Statesboro, Brandon Burnsed of Statesboro and Anna Beth Burnsed of Statesboro; and four great-grandchildren.
    The graveside service and burial will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Will Griffith and the Rev. Harold Piet officiating.
    Pallbearers will be George Beasley, Ray Beasley, Jim Sullivan, Robert Sullivan, Johnny Parrish and William Bland.
    The family will receive visitors at the graveside following the service.
    The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Georgia 30459; or Merrywood Baptist Church, 23366 U.S. Highway 80 East, Statesboro, Georgia 30458.
