STATESBORO, Ga. -- Ms. Muriel Bryant, age 88, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro.
    Muriel was born in Emanuel County, the daughter of Ebb and Rosie Roland Bryant. She was a 1948 graduate of Garfield High School.
    Muriel moved to Statesboro and began working for Dr. Daniels, where she became a licensed practical nurse. She later began working with Georgia Southern College, where she was a nurse in the infirmary and retired following 30 years of service.
    Muriel was a member of several professional organizations, including GALPN-First District and the state and national NAPNES.
    She was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Agnes Kelly Sunday School Class. Muriel was also a former member of the Bulloch County Senior Citizens Joy Club.
    She had been a resident of Willow Pond Senior Living Community in Statesboro for the past two years.
    Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, her best friend, Dorothy Wiggins; a sister, Mildred Lewis; and two brothers, Eugene Bryant and Valgene Bryant.
    Surviving are a niece, Cecilia Tankersley, and husband, Randy, of Appling; and four nephews, Van Lewis and wife, Janice, of Rincon; Glen and wife, Christine Lewis, of Garfield; Stephen Lewis of Twin City and John Wyler Lewis of Twin City.
    The family will receive visitors on Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
    The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Harry Sherrer officiating. Interment will be in Old Canoochee Cemetery in Twin City, Georgia.
    Pallbearers will be Van Lewis, Glen Lewis, Stephen Lewis, Randy Tankersley, Lee Blitch and Greg Manz.
    The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Bulloch County Humane Society, P.O. Box 581, Statesboro, Georgia 30459.
