Portal, Ga. — Ms. Melissa “Missy” Usry Finch, age 55, died Friday evening at her son’s residence in Statesboro under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice. The Atlanta, Georgia native moved to Portal as a child. She attended Portal High School and later graduated in 1999 from Ogeechee Technical College, with a welding degree. Missy was of the Baptist faith and had attended Aaron Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Anthony Usry.
Surviving are her three sons, Dusty Finch and Josh Finch of Portal and Chad Finch of Statesboro; two grandchildren, Kayson Finch and Halley Finch; her mother, Helen Brown Usry of Portal and a brother, Tony Usry of Portal. Many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Graveside services and burial will be on Monday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rex Rigdon officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chris Black, Blake Usry, Tim Brown, Calvin Hendrix, Robert Lucas, Albert Lucas, Jr. and Frank Smith, Jr.
