STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Irma Jean Polk McBride passed into rest Friday, January 11, 2019, at the Candler Hospital, Savannah, Ga.
The Bulloch County native was the daughter of the late Lester and Susie Bell Young Polk. She received her formal education in the Bulloch County School System and was a graduate of Statesboro High School. Mrs. McBride also attended the East Georgia College, Swainsboro, Ga., and was currently employed with the Bulloch County Board of Education as a food service worker at Brooklet Elementary. She was a member of Statesboro Mission Outreach Ministries, Inc.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory McBride, Statesboro; her children, Dantron L. (Monica) McBride, Greenville, S.C.; Dametria E. McBride, Statesboro, Ga.; Denzail J. McBride and Aaliyha S. Rutledge, both of Savannah, Ga.; her brothers, Leroy (Sylvia) Polk, Statesboro, Ga.; Willie Polk, Portal, Ga.; Lester (Carolyn) Polk, New Orleans, La.; Frank (Joyce) Polk, Cordele, Ga.; and Rufus Polk, Augusta, Ga.; her sisters, Christine (Elder Paul) Moore, Statesboro, Ga.; Pearl Barkdales, Savannah, Ga.; and Ruth Polk, Spartanburg, S.C.; a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Friday from noon until 7 p.m. at the mortuary. There will be no viewing on the day of the service.
The funeral service for Mrs. McBride will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the Statesboro Mission Outreach Ministries, Inc., 20597 U.S. 301 North, Statesboro, GA 30461, with Bishop Virgil Badie Sr. officiating.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
