STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Betty Turner Shuman, age 86, died on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
Mrs. Shuman was born in Bulloch County on October 29th, 1932, to Mr. Alec and Mrs. Pearl Turner. She graduated from Brooklet High School in 1949 and later attended Droughns Business College.
She worked for several years in banking in Jacksonville, Fla., before moving back to Statesboro, where she was a bookkeeper for several local businesses until retiring in 2011.
She was a longtime member of Emit Grove Baptist Church who enjoyed working, but most of all, loved spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Shuman; her parents, her son, Dale Clark; and her five brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan Clark of Statesboro; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Friday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Emit Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Huffingham officiating.
