STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. Lonnie Reginald “LR” Anderson Jr., age 70, died on Sunday evening, January 27, 2019, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient facility in Statesboro.
    LR was born in 1948 to the late Lonnie Reginald Anderson Sr. and Audrey Lanier Anderson. He grew up in Register and graduated from Statesboro High School.
    He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 34 years and then worked as a consultant for another 10 years after his retirement.
    LR was a Shriner and enjoyed hunting and harassing his children.
    He was a member of Register Baptist Church.
    LR is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margaret Collins Anderson; and a sister, Arlene Anderson.
    LR leaves behind his wife of 19 years, Linda Hicks Anderson of Metter; three daughters, Amber Anderson Holley of Register and Ashton Anderson of Memphis, Tenn.; and Emily Anderson Wright; two stepdaughters, Janet Mills and Deborah Bruce; and two grandsons, Brock Anderson Holley and Cash Reginald Wright. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
    The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
    The funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Ledbetter officiating. Interment will follow in Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be John Horton, David Deal, Ryan Sparks, Bob Avra, Kenny Hicks, Larry Beasley, Doug Wright and Brandon Conner.
    Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Wolf Creek Hunting Club.
    The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
