SYLVANIA –- Betty Luree Pitts, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Syl-View Rehabilitation and Memory Care Center in Sylvania.
    She was born in Screven County on Christmas day, 1928, to the late Jessie Davis Pitts and Loney Belle Burns Pitts.
    She was a member of Sylvania First Christian Church and was a retired teacher's aide, having worked for 20+ years.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jessie Belle Pitts Lee.
    Survivors: nieces, Donna L. (Marion) Griffin and Melanie L. (Tim) Moody, all of Sylvania; nephew, Kenneth D. (Beth) Lee of Midway, Ga.; several great-nieces and great-nephews as well as a number of cousins.
    Visitation: Friday, November 30, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
    Funeral service: Friday, November 30, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with Minister George Pevey and Minister Jay Akin officiating. Burial will follow in North Newington Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Pallbearers: Donny Mallard, Jerry Hunter, Jerry Scott, Guerry Burns, John Burns, Joe Burns, Phillip Deason and Thomas Pitts.
    The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Sylvania First Christian Church Building Fund, c/o Wes Withrow, 1732 Farmdale Road, Sylvania, GA 30467.
