Hours after a woman was fatally shot Monday afternoon at a Highway 301 South residence, a few miles from the Evans County line, sheriff's investigators were still questioning witnesses as well as a "person of interest" in the case. Bulloch County sheriff's Chief Deputy Jared Akins said no charges had been filed against anyone as of 7 p.m. Monday, but investigators, as well as the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, were busy reviewing evidence and speaking with people who were at the scene of the fatal shooting. Akins said it could be later in the evening or Tuesday morning before the victim's identity is released and charges, if any, are brought.
