A woman was charged with child cruelty and aggravated assault after beating her teenage daughter with a board Wednesday, police said.
The 17-year-old was first taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, then transported to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah for treatment of her injuries, said Statesboro Police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.
Kizzie Lavenia Dockery of Park Place Apartments faces charges of aggravated assault (family violence), first degree cruelty to children, and two counts of third degree cruelty to children, she said.
Dockery, 37, reportedly attacked her oldest daughter, repeatedly striking her with a wooden board, causing “extensive injuries,” Warren said.
The attack took place in the presence of Dockery’s two younger children, she said.
Dockery is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail, awaiting further court action, according to jail records.
