111212 VETERANS DAY 01
In this file photo from last year's Veterans Day observance at the Averitt Center for the Arts, Air Force Master Sgt. (ret.) Joe Bill Brannon reminds civilians about what they can do for veterans beyond a "thank you" and a pat on the back in his keynote address .
Representatives with the American Legion Dexter Allen Post 90 say Monday will offer cause to celebrate; and they hope the community will join them. The date marks Veterans Day throughout the country, and the American Legion plans to continue a more than decade-old tradition of honoring veterans and military families with its 2013 Veterans Day Community Observance Program. Festivities for the annual event — free to the public — will kick off at 10:30 a.m. inside the Emma Kelly Theater, at the Averitt Center for the Arts.
