The town of Portal will be buzzing this weekend as the 32nd Annual Catface Turpentine Festival draws people from all over the state to sample food such as rosin-baked potatoes and watch turpentine being distilled. Held every year during the first weekend in October, the festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, said Portal Heritage Society president Jan Haggins. The group, along with the town of Portal, hosts the annual event.
