Tattoo artist charged with sexual battery
Danny Joe Saldano

A tattoo artist at Got Ink tattoo studio is behind bars after allegedly touching a woman inappropriately.

The victim’s friend caught the act on video, said Statesboro Police Capt. Jared Akins.

Danny Joe Saldano, of Ash Branch Church Road in Pembroke, was charged with aggravated sexual battery.

Monday, “officers spoke with an adult female victim regarding an incident which occurred at Got Ink Tattoo Studio on South Zetterower Avenue.  The victim stated that while she was being tattooed on her upper leg the tattoo artist touched her inappropriately,” he said.

The incident was partially recorded on a cell phone video by a friend of the victim, who was also present and wanted to preserve evidence of the crime.  The video was turned over to officers and detectives began an investigation, he said.

The victim was later able to positively identify Saldano, 35, as the person who sexually battered her, he said.  Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Saldano on one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Thursday, Statesboro Police Impact Team took Saldano into custody at Got Ink Tattoo Studio without incident.  He was transported to the Bulloch County Jail where he remains pending further judicial action.  Anyone with further information on this case should contact Det.James Winskeuy at (912) 764-9911.
