A man who survived a single-vehicle crash Friday that killed a passenger in his vehicle is listed in serious but stable condition, according to a Georgia State Patrol report.
Paul Anthony Roberts, 25, of Ash Branch Church Road in Pembroke, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on Ash Branch Church Road around 7:40 p.m. Friday when his truck left the roadway, according to a report by Georgia State Patrol Trooper Hunter Oglesby.
Roberts overcorrected, crossed back over both lanes of the road, left the road again and struck a tree. The truck then caught fire, Oglesby said.
Roberts escaped the wreckage and was airlifted by Air Evac to Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah, where he remains in the intensive care unit, Oglesby said.
Brandon Marty Curl, 22, of Mill Creek Church Road in Ellabell, was pronounced dead at the scene. He died as a result of blunt force trauma, said Bulloch County Deputy Coroner Chuck Frances.
The accident is being investigated by the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team, reports stated. No charges have been filed.
