Savannah-based folk artist J'miah Nabawi entertained children and parents with his storytelling prowess at the Statesboro Regional Library Thursday. "You tell the story the way your heart tells you to," he told youngsters and their parents while relating several tales.
Nabawi has been a performance artist story-teller for more than twenty years, utilizing a style reflective of the story-dance-musical drama found in many West African oral traditions. While the state of Georgia is host to most of Nabawi's performances, he has traveled across the country thrilling children and adults alike with his multi-lingual programs combining both original and traditional folk tales and song.
