Residents of Statesboro and the Statesboro fire district are invited to attend upcoming informational meetings about rising homeowner insurance costs and ISO, orC fire protection, ratings.
Hosted by the Statesboro Fire Department, the first meeting will be held 6–8 p.m. Monday the Fair Road Fire Station (1533 Fair Road), said Statesboro fire Chief Tim Grams.
“Over the past several months, we have received numerous phone calls, emails and visits from individuals that are concerned about the rising costs associated with their homeowners’ insurance premiums,” he said. “Many of these individuals live in the Statesboro Fire District and have seen a substantial increase in these premiums while not fully understanding what caused this to occur.”
Grams said he hopes the informational forums will help residents better understand the issue.
“The Statesboro Fire Department takes pride in delivering excellent fire services to our community and is diligently working with” both Statesboro and Bulloch County officials “to take reasonable and responsible steps to ensure as many of the residents in the Statesboro Fire Department service area receive the benefits associated with its ISO Class 2 rating,” he said.
The Statesboro Fire Department plans to hold a number of these community informational meetings where citizens in attendance can receive information and ask questions concerning ISO ratings and how they affect insurance premiums for homeowners, he said. Dates for the rest of the meetings will be announced later.
“All those residing in the Statesboro fire district are encouraged to attend one of these meetings,” Grams said.
