About 3,000 Georgia Power customers in the Statesboro area were without power Friday afternoon for more than 30 minutes, some longer, said Georgia Power spokesman Jeff Wilson.
Power went out just before 3 p.m. Friday due to "transmission line issues," he said. After electricity was restored to the majority of customers around 3:30 to 3:45, there were still "368 customers still" without power at the time, he said. There were numerous scattered power outages in the area due to the weather, but the transmission line problem's cause was yet undetermined at the time, he said.
Statesboro Police officers manned intersections for the period, as the outage affected traffic lights as well. A Statesboro Police spokesman reported no traffic accidents occurred due to the outage.
