When the Statesboro Herald announces ribbon cuttings of new businesses in the Business Tuesday section, you need to include the location of these new businesses. How are we going to patronize ... them if we do not know where to find them?

... This is referrin' to the firin' Stan York and the ... the other guy. ... I thought we voted these people in. How can the city ... council just ... you know, do away with their jobs without votin' ... for this? ... You know ... I mean, that ... it sounds all wrong. I mean, somethin ... somethin's ... I ... I think it's got a lot to do with ... discriminatin' against one person. They're discriminatin' against these two guys. This ... this is ... this is wrong, people.

Do you have any idea what's in the health care bill that's been forced down our throat? Prob'ly not. ... You think any of us are going to be able to retire with Social Security at age 62 or 65? ... Forget it. It's not gonna happen. They're gonna raise the retirement age. Prob'ly to a week before you're scheduled to die. ... You'll pay into Social Security all your life ... and then the government will step in and basically steal all of that money.

Say it isn't so department: would someone please reassure us ... that it is the old police department facility ... that is for sale ... not the new? ... If it is the latter ... what brought on this catastrophe?

You know, since they decided to do away with their chief of police and the ... fire chief, why don't they just go ahead and combine the city police department ... sheriffs department ... and ... make it all one big ... facility? ... You know, I think that would work even better. Statesboro-Bulloch County ... Metropolitan Police Department. That sounds great.

... I just would like to praise the Portal ... mayor, Larry Motes, and his staff ... 'specially Mike Arrieta, for all their help that they've been giving the community in the last few years. No one ever ... calls in for the praise part and I just wanted to ... make sure that my voice was heard of all the great things that they have been doing for our community. Thank you.

... Five twenty-two Whistlestop Circle in Preetoria Station subdivision: please clean up your yard and cut yo grass! It makes everybody else's house look bad! Thank you. ... Please ... print this.

Hey, y'all wanna find out the real truth about the city of Statesboro fire department, fire chief and the two captains? ... Take a trip down to the fire department and see how nice things are down there now. See all the laughter. See all the smilin' faces. Long time overdue. Way to go, city of Statesboro City Council.

Mayor Hatcher is gone. Mayor Brannen is tryin' to sell ... the new police building for $3.5 million dollars and have the new owner lease it back to the city. ... Where is our city government headed ... and is the water too deep for us to swim out of?

I have lived in several small communities like this around the country ... and they've had either a mayor or a city manager, but not both. So, here a novel idea to save money. Get ... let ... the one that gets paid the most go and have the other one ... pick up the work. ... Quite easy. ... I don't ... never have understood why Statesboro has both mayor and a city manager. It seems like double ... when ... one should be able to do the work
