The City of Statesboro wants to cut ... the budget. Well, if they wanna cut the budget, why don't they stop people from driving all the way to Bay Branch with the police car and let 'em use their own vehicles? Seems to me that would be a good way to ... cut the budget. That's prob'ly 20 bucks a day in gas that they're spendin'.

Those of the board and those ... at state need to get off they butts and go into the school systems and see that the classroom sizes are already overcrowded. ... The kindergartners are already over-crowded and they gonna make 'em even larger. ... They need to get off they butts and see that them teachers are havin' a hard time tryin' to ... keep 20 little kids in place!

Well, I don't know why I keep callin', 'cause you never ... print anything. This is Can't Fix Stupid again. I see they're closin' East Main Street. God forbid we should put that money in police. It duhn't do any good to have pretty Main Street if you can't walk on it because of the drugs and the crime! Wake up, Statesboro!

"To the letter writers who complained about Soundoff: get over it! This is not an academic publication. This is the popular press. If the Herald wants to save space, please stop wasting newsprint on Gene Lyons' column. He certainly doesn't let the facts penetrate his mean-spirited diatribes.
