A large group fight Sunday night at a Chandler Road apartment complex led to one man being injured and shots being fired. The fight was started by a woman arguing with her baby's father.

The victim did not suffer a gunshot wound but lost several teeth in an attack by multiple offenders, said Statesboro police Community Information Specialist Madison Warren.

Just before 11 p.m. Sunday, police responded to a call to Renaissance Apartments for reports of shots fired. After interviewing several witnesses, officers learned the fight involved numerous people — a group of females and a group of males, she said.

The women met up with the men at an apartment, and one woman began fighting with a man, reportedly the father of her child.

Others joined in the fray, and the women ran to another apartment, where someone there let them inside.

However, when the group of men tried to enter, an apartment resident would not allow them entry, Warren said.

Three shots were fired as an altercation took place, with several men attacking the one who refused them entry. The victim suffered facial and other injuries, including broken teeth.

The victim was treated and transported by Bulloch County EMS. There were no arrests in the incident, but an investigation is ongoing, she said.
