Bulloch County Sheriff's investigators arrested a convicted sex offender who moved from his last registered address without informing authorities.

Johnathon Ta'Byris Newkirk, 25, formerly of Shuman Road, failed to notify sheriff's deputies after he moved from that address, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.

Newkirk was convicted in 2004 of statutory rape. By law, any convicted sex offender is to register any change of address or employment. A warrant was issued for Newkirk's arrest for violation of this law, he said.

Newkirk, who was also wanted on an outstanding probation violation warrant through Bulloch County Superior Court, turned himself in to authorities after learning deputies were seeking him Tuesday, he said.
