A man who told police he had been injured in a shooting incident Wednesday at Foxridge Apartments had not been shot, police said.
The 25-year-old victim told Statesboro Police investigators he was grazed in the top of his head by a bullet, but officers determined the minor wound was not caused by gunshot, said Det. Sgt. James Winskey.
Several men did enter a Foxridge apartment and begin an altercation, and at least one gunshot was fired inside the apartment, but police have not yet determined who fire the gun, he said.
The unknown men chased the victim, who fell and suffered his head injury in a fall, he said.
Detectives continue to investigate the incident and ask that anyone with information contact the Statesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 764-1542.
Police detectives still seek information on an Oct. 6 shooting incident at Little Lotts Creek Apartments, where a 21-year-old man was shot in the upper body. He remains in stable condition.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Tommy Brown, or any detective in the Statesboro Police Criminal Investigations Division, at 764-1542 or 764-9911. All information will be held in strict confidence," said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
