crime-scene-tape

Register police arrested a woman Friday on drug charges after a high-speed chase into another county.
Around 5 p.m., Chief Kile stopped a car traveling at 76 mph through the town. The driver, Jasmine Lamarshae Petty, 20, 0f Georgia Avenue, increased her speed to over 100 mph in an attempt to flee, but stopped two miles past the Bulloch-Candler county line, he said.
Petty was charged with marijuana possession and possession of drug-related objects after Kile first smelled, then found a quantity of marijuana, paraphernalia and five marijuana "roaches" (cigarette butts) in the car. She was also charged with fleeing and attempt to elude, he said.
In a separate traffic stop Friday, Felisha Shonett Smith, 35, of Lanier Drive, was charged with marijuana possession and suspended registration after Lt. Terry Kile stopped her vehicle around 8:30 p.m. Friday. The stop was made due to the suspended registration, but after detecting the smell of marijuana, Lt. Kile discovered a "small amount of marijuana," he said.
