Two women armed with a crowbar robbed an elderly man of his money early Wednesday, but Bulloch County Sheriff's deputies caught the women and arrested them, along with a man they picked up after the robbery.
Prince Jonathan Cox, 28, U.S. 80 West, Portal, had nothing to do with the robbery, but was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson. He is being held in the Bulloch County Jail without bond after deputies found him in a white Ford Taurus with Paulet Monica Heard, 22, Larry Smith Trailer Park, Portal; and Taneshia Latrease Huff, 30, U.S. 80 West, Portal.
Heard and Huff were charged with armed robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, abuse or exploitation of an elderly or disabled person, and cocaine possession, Anderson said.
Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, the two women accosted a 70-year-old man in his home on Old Dill Road. After forcing their way inside, they threatened him with the crowbar "and demanded what money he had," he said. "After taking his money, the suspects left."
The victim went to a neighbor's house and told them what happened, he said. The victim said the suspects left in a white Ford Taurus, and not long afterwards deputies located the car, he said.
After investigation, deputies recovered some of the victim's property and arrested the women along with Cox.
Both Heard and Huff are being held in the Bulloch County Jail without bond as well, Anderson said.
No one was injured in the armed robbery, and "investigation into the crime is continuing," he said.
