Police: Sex offender caught in Bulloch
Man absconded from Coffee County, police say
Gregory Wayne Lott

A convicted sex offender hiding out in Bulloch County after absconding from Coffee County, was apprehended Tuesday after getting into an argument with his girlfriend.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson said Gregory Wayne Lott, 33, Tony Davis Road, Westgreen, Ga., was at a Brannen Drive residence at 5 a.m. Tuesday, arguing with his girlfriend over finances. When two roommates became involved, Lott became angry and the complainants told deputies he began “acting violently towards them.”
When deputies questioned Lott, he gave a false name, but once his true identity was determined, deputies learned he was wanted in Coffee County.
Lott was convicted in 1999 on statutory rape charges, and after his release for prison was required to register as a convicted sex offender, Anderson said. However, he fled from Coffee County, in violation of probation and of sex offender laws.
“Lott absconded from sex offender supervision and moved to Bulloch County in secret,” he said.
Lott is being held at the Bulloch County Jail on charges of simple battery, disorderly conduct, obstruction and giving false information.
He awaits extradition to Coffee County on the probation violation and sex offender law violations, he said.
Anyone with information on any sex offender living in, but not registered in Bulloch County, is asked to submit anonymous tips to Bulloch County Sheriff Capt. Todd Hutchens at (912) 764-8888. Tips can also be provided online at, he said.
“Absconded sex offenders pose a serious risk to public safety and require the community’s help to detect and prosecute,” Anderson said.
