Statesboro Police are seeking a man they say forced a woman into a car at knifepoint Thursday.
Warrants were issued for Willie Ira Coney, 58, on charges of domestic violence aggravated assault and kidnapping, said Wendell Turner, Statesboro public safety director.
Coney reportedly argued with a 47-year-old woman at a Bobby Donaldson Avenue residence around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, he said.
During the altercation, Coney allegedly forced the woman into a car against her will, he said.  The victim told police Coney used a knife to force her into the vehicle. No injuries were reported.
The victim was able to escape and ran somewhere to call police, he said. ”Witnesses advised the responding officers that Coney fled the scene before the police arrived.”
Statesboro Police Det. Ben Purvis responded to the scene, and after interviewing the victim and other witnesses, he secured arrest warrants for Coney’s arrest, Turner said.
“Coney has not been arrested and remains at large,” he said.” Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Coney is asked to contact the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911.”
