Statesboro police are seeking a man they said robbed a victim at gunpoint on Groover Lane May 4, and hope citizens will be able to provide information leading to the suspect's arrest.
The Statesboro Police Criminal Investigations Division posted a lookout for Markuis Demetruis Curtis, 19, address unknown, said SPD Det. Tommy Brown.
Charges against Curtis include armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated assault, all felonies, he said.
On May 4, Curtis called the victim, who sells "beats," Brown said. Beats are music on compact discs used as backgrounds for rap music, he said.
Curtis met with the victim, "listened to the beats, said he liked them, then pulled a gun and robbed" the victim, he said.
After the victim reported the assault, Brown began investigating and secured evidence that identified Curtis as the offender, he said.
Curtis is described as a black man with a dark complexion, medium build, weighing around 180 pounds and standing about 5'8", he said.
He could be armed with a 380 caliber semiautomatic hand gun that was used in the incident, he said.
Anyone with information about Curtis and his whereabouts is asked to contact Brown at 764-9911 or 764-1542. All calls will be kept confidential, he said.
