An elderly man charged with shooting another was released on bond Tuesday, according to Bulloch County Jail records.
Carl Mincey, 74, Matthews Road, was charged with aggravated assault with a gun after Statesboro Police responded to a call about a man shot in the leg, said Statesboro Police Capt. Scott Brunson.
Police reports stated Mincey and the victim argued around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, and the disagreement escalated to the point Mincey pulled the gun and fired. Brunson said the bullet struck the victim in the shin.
The victim was taken for treatment at East Georgia Regional Medical Center.
The victim's injuries are not serious nor life-threatening, he said.
Mincey was arrested at the scene and taken to the Bulloch County Jail.
While most offenders charged with aggravated assault with a gin are detained for a much longer period, denied bond until court, Mincey was released on a $2,000 property bond due to his age and health, said Bulloch County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Gene McDaniel.
