Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies arrested one man and seek another after a two reported burglaries this week.
Walter Sam Vincent II, 36, Mulberry Park, Ellabell, is charged with burglary, five counts theft by taking motor vehicle, and second degree criminal damage to property.
Deputies are on the lookout for Daniel Eugene Riggs, 29, Mulberry Park, Ellabell, on charges of two counts burglary, one count felony theft by taking, six counts theft by taking motor vehicle, and two counts second degree criminal damage to property, he said.
Sunday, deputies responded to the scene at a residence on Horace Mitchell Road, near Ga. 67, after receiving reports of a burglary where two men stole a pull-behind trailer and a four-wheeler, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson. Responding deputies processed the scene and turned the case over to the Bulloch Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division. Then, another report came in Tuesday regarding the theft of a four-wheeler on Stilson-Leefield Road, he said.
“The homeowner was able to provide deputies with information the vehicle used in the theft,” he said.
"Surrounding agencies were notified of the theft and a short time later, the vehicle was spotted pulling a trailer with the stolen four-wheeler and two dirt bikes in Bryan County.”
After Bryan County Sheriff’s deputies tried stopping the truck, a chase began, ending on Pearlie Mikell Road in Bryan County.
Vincent was taken into custody at the scene, but Riggs, who was driving, fled on foot, Anderson said.
Items stolen from the Stilson-Leefield Road location were recovered in the vehicle, and after a follow-up investigation by both Bryan and Bulloch County investigators, more stolen items, including the things stolen from Horace Mitchell Road, were discovered in the suspect’s Mulberry Park Road residence, he said.
Vincent was transported to the Bulloch County Jail, but the search for Riggs is ongoing, he said.
Anyone with information on Riggs’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Bulloch or Bryan County Sheriff’s Offices.
Anderson said he thanks the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Clyde Smith for assistant in solving the cases.
