The Old River Road historical marker has been stolen, and the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help.

The marker was taken from Georgia Highway 119 near the Ogeechee River bridge, which is also the Effingham County line, the sheriff's office announced Tuesday on its Facebook page.

The sheriff's office speculates that the marker might have been taken for its metal scrap value.

Anyone who has any knowledge of the theft or the location of the sign should contact their local law enforcement agency or Bulloch County sheriff's Investigator Dusty Williams at (912) 764-1703, or submit an anonymous tip to tips@bullochsheriff.com.
