No charges are expected in connection with a July 15 accident in which a teenage boy was killed.
Shyheim Mack, 14, of Sixth Avenue in Millen, was crossing Veterans Memorial Parkway around 10 that night, near the intersection with Lanier Drive, when he was struck by a car driven by Jerry Lann, 51, of Millen, Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said.
Mack was crossing against the light, and Lann had the right of way, Turner said.
Mack, who was walking with three friends, was run over and suffered major trauma to the head, Turner said.
The teen was flown my medical helicopter to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he died July 22 from complications stemming from the accident.
The case remains open as officials await crime lab reports.
Lann willingly submitted blood for tests after the incident, Turner said. Police Lt. Charles Forney is investigating.
