Police are investigating the armed robbery Sunday of a fast food manager in Metter.

Around 7:30 a.m., the male victim was about to make an overnight deposit at the Synovus Bank on South Lewis Street when the robbery occurred, said Metter Police Chief Rob Shore.

The victim said a black man standing between 5’11” and 6’ tall, showed a gun and demanded the cash bag containing the deposit, the amount of which was undisclosed, he said.

During the robbery the suspect assaulted the victim, who suffered “superficial injuries,” he said.

The suspect, who fled the scene after the robbery, was wearing a light colored hoodie, dark pants and white tennis shoes, he said.

“We are actively investigating this crime.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Metter Police Department at 912-685-5437.
