Metter police arrested a man on drug charges Monday after an investigation involving the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other agencies.
Metter Police Chief Dennis Nelson said Harace Kwama Fielder, 28, of Metter, is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of public housing and tampering with evidence.
Police executed a search warrant at Fielder's home, and evidence led to his arrest, Nelson said.
Metter police investigators handled this case with assistance from the Tri-Circuit Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force, Candler County Sheriff's Office, and GBI.
"We truly appreciate the efforts of the law enforcement officers involved in this investigation to help make Metter a safer place," Nelson said.
He also expressed appreciation for "valued assistance" by the Metter Housing Authority.
"Most importantly, we thank our concerned citizens who continue to provide us with information because, without them, illegal drug operations like this one would continue," he said. "The case is still under investigation and possible arrests are pending."
