Police are seeking information on a man they said tried to kidnap a 13-year-old last week.
Statesboro Police Capt. L.C. Williams said the juvenile boy told his father he was walking along Chandler Road, en route to Parker's Enzone convenience store when a man offered him a ride.
"The juvenile refused twice," he said. Then, the suspect "became loud, aggressive, and exited his vehicle."
The teen ran away, going home to tell his father about the experience, he said.
The boy described the offender as a black man wearing black, baggy pants, a black jacket, and a rag on his head, Williams said. He was driving a small black car.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Statesboro Police Department at 764-9911 or 7641542, he said. "Any and all information will be held in strict confidence."
The incident remains under investigation, he said. Detectives Terry Briley and Kelphie Lundy are heading the investigation.
