A man found dead in his truck on Interstate 16 Thursday likely died of natural causes, said Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch.Bulloch County Sheriff’s Sgt. Tracy Miller was on patrol Thursday morning when he noticed a truck in a ditch 119 mile marker on Interstate 16, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson. Upon checking the truck, Miller discovered Ricky Allen Lanigan, 55, Clyo, slumped over in the seat, unresponsive, he said.Bulloch County EMS responded to the scene, as well as the coroner, and pronounced Lanigan deceased.There was “nothing suspicious” and no foul play is suspected, Futch said. However, Lanigan’s body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab in Savannah for an autopsy, he said.Anderson said Lanigan’s next of kin was notified of his death by a chaplain from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.Holli Deal Bragg may be reached at 912-489-9414.
