A Statesboro man was killed early Monday morning in a single-vehicle accident.

Georgia State Patrol Senior Trooper Ricky Helton responded to the wreck on U.S. Highway 80 East near Stilson around 3 a.m. Monday.

He found a 2002 Ford Focus driven by Ricky Evans, 50, of Swallowtail Drive, that had left the road and struck a tree, according to reports.

Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.
