Statesboro police arrested a man accused of molesting a 6-year-old girl who is related to him.
Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner said officers met Sunday with the child’s family at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where the family took her for treatment. Family members told officers the child was sexually molested by a relative — Anthony Labron Hurst, 25, formerly of Sylvania. The Bulloch County Jail lists Hurst as having a current address of Lanier Drive in Statesboro.
Officers questioned the little girl and her mother, then notified Detective Keith Holloway, who responded to the hospital to begin an investigation, Turner said.
“After conducting interview of witnesses, arrest warrants were issued for Hurst charging him with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purposes,” Turner said.
The Screven County Sheriff’s Department arrested Hurst on Monday, and Statesboro Police transported him from Screven County Jail to the Bulloch County Jail, where he is being held without bond, pending further court action.
